Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty IV - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science - Department of Telecommunication Systems - invites applications for a position of a
University Professor - salary grade W 3
in the field of "Data Communications and Networking".
Research and teaching in the area of communication networks, systems and protocols with emphasis on at least one of the following fields:
System and protocol aspects of network systems: network coding, caching, distributed storage in networks as well as coexistence of heterogeneous wireless systems
Architecture and design (e.g. including theory and algorithms for optimal resource allocation, combinatorial/ distributed optimization, modelling and performance analysis, queuing theory, game theory, graph theory)
Networking systems (e.g. including software- hardware co-designed architectures, network devices, software radio testbeds, low-power embedded systems, proof of concept based on existing air Interfaces)
Wireless networks especially real- time networks for Cyber Physical systems (e.g. body/on body networks, supporting eHealth applications, vehicular networks)
Proven achievements in both theoretical and experimental research is required. Close cooperation with research groups in related fields such as communications, information theory, embedded systems, distributed systems, video communication, machine learning, database, and network security is expected. The teaching assignment includes courses on network protocols and distributed systems, communication networks, networking technology, performance evaluation of computer networks, both in the Bachelor degree program and in the Master degree programs offered by the Faculty IV - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Berlin offers a rich research environment in the field and related areas including several non-university research institutes, such that a wide range of research collaboration opportunities is possible.
Candidates should fulfil the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed academic education, qualified achievements in research (PhD), post-doctoral teaching (Habilitation) or equivalent qualification and pedagogical didactic qualifications.
Furthermore, we expect
proven expertise in theoretic and experimental research and a solid publication record in at least one of the above-mentioned technical fields;
teaching experience and competence in the management of a working group.
Applicants are requested to submit a first concept of the research and teaching activities envisaged with their application. Evidence of experience in the acquisition of external funding is desirable.
